Both Device and App resources from different brands can be connected to Conrad Connect. Depending on a user account plan, different limits for active resources are applied. They show up on Devices & Apps page as well as in the Device Manager, where they can be activated, in the Project editor as sensor and actuators and on the Dashboard, where the parameters and values are shown.
However, there is a major difference between a device and an app. Users can have a limited amount of active devices at a time, as well as connected apps.
Where is the difference between a device and an app?
A resource is counted as a device, when it is a hardware device or related to a hardware.
E.g.:
- A smart Lamp
- A weather station module
- Fitness tracker
- Etc.
Some devices include multiple different properties and may appear as multiple sensors and actuators. As long as it shows up as one resource on Devices & Apps or Device Manager pages, it still counts as one connected device.
What is an App?
An App, in this case, is a resource which is not directly related to a hardware device.
Apps are:
- Google services
- Google Calendar (each calendar is counted separately)
- Google Fit
- Google Sheets
- Gmail
- IFTTT
- Spotify
What is not being counted?
However, there are some apps which might have already been connected by default and not counted or limited:
- Airvisual
- Maker Tools
- Slack
- Free services connected from Addons & Services page, e.g. Telegram.
